Quantified impacts of IFRS 9: initial findings
At the end of February 2018, all the major European banks published information on the impact of the implementation of the new standard IFRS 9. IFRS 9 introduces numerous changes (classification, impairment, hedging, etc.). Their impacts at the transition date vary widely from one bank to another. They are negative in most cases, but for some banks are virtually nil or even positive. The indicators used are also variable: though the impact on the CET1 ratio is a firm common indicator, the level of further detail reported varies significantly from one institution to another.

Desde el 1 de enero de 2018 están en vigor la NIIF 9 – Instrumentos Financieros y la NIIF 15 – Ingresos procedentes de contratos con clientes, tal como informó el IASB en su web el pasado 8 de enero. En paralelo, Europa continua con el estudio de impacto de la NIIF 9 sobre la inversión a largo plazo con la publicación por parte del EFRAG de los resultados de un primer análisis de evaluación. El estudio del EFRAG ha estimulado al IASB que, a raíz de la publicación, también ha publicado dos presentaciones sobre la contribución de las NIIF a la estabilidad financiera y la inversión a largo plazo.

El IASB ha realizado un último retoque a la NIIF 9 con la modificación en relación con instrumentos con características de cancelación anticipada con compensación negativa y la inclusión (en los Fundamentos de las Conclusiones) de su análisis sobre los requerimientos de la NIIF 9 sobre la modificación de pasivos financieros. Lo único que falta ahora es que la Unión Europea acelere la adopción de esta modificación para evitar que las entidades europeas tengan que cambiar sus políticas contables entre 2018 y 2019.

Se marca así el final de un capítulo ya que la gran norma a la espera de adopción por parte de la UE , la NIIF 17 sobre Contratos de Seguros, no era un proyecto conjunto del IASB con el FASB. La adopción de esta norma por parte de la UE, no se espera a priori hasta finales del próximo año.
