Tax seminar “U.S. political and tax policy developments and their impact on cross-border investments"

Last Thursday 5 March 2026, Forvis Mazars in Japan hosted a seminar at the Tokyo American Club, bringing together around 150 participants from international and Japanese companies to explore the implications of these developments for cross-border investment decisions.

We were honored to welcome two distinguished speakers from Forvis Mazars in the US:
Michael Cornett , Managing Director, Washington National Tax Office
Keith Giddens, Managing Partner, Tax Consulting

Drawing on decades of experience in international taxation and policy, they shared valuable insights on the rapidly evolving U.S. tax and policy landscape, covering topics such as tariff developments, legislative changes including the “One Big Beautiful Bill” (OB3), state-level investment considerations, the U.S. response to Pillar Two, the fiscal year 2026 legislative outlook, and emerging tax audit trends.

The session also featured an engaging interview and Q&A moderated by Sho Matsukizono, Tax Partner at Forvis Mazars in Japan. The thoughtful questions from participants reflected the strong interest from businesses navigating an increasingly complex global tax environment.

The evening concluded with a lively networking reception, providing an excellent opportunity for participants to exchange perspectives and continue the discussion with peers and our experts.

A sincere thank you to everyone who joined us.

At Forvis Mazars, bringing together global expertise and local insight is how we help businesses navigate change and build for what's next with confidence.
