Key responsibilities

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards, audit methodologies and regulatory changes
  • Supervise and lead external audit engagements from planning to completion
  • Identify high-risk areas in the financial statements and adopt an efficient audit approach to address these risks
  • Request, collect, review and analyse the financial and operational data of clients
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of corporate governance, regulatory compliance, audit standards and accounting principles
  • Possess a positive ‘can-do’ attitude to challenges and the agility to multitask effectively across competing priorities
  • Assign and review associates’ tasks and provide on-the-job training for them
  • Review audit working papers and reports to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with audit standards
  • Communicate effectively with clients on data requests, internal control issues and audit findings
  • Prepare the independent auditor’s report, representation letter, management letter and audit committee presentation
  • Understand the group auditor’s instructions and prepare the relevant deliverables
  • Prepare and issue group audit instructions, and follow up on and review deliverables and audit files from component auditors
  • Promote the firm’s values and beliefs, demonstrating integrity and maintaining an ethical stance, using flexibility and tact to express views as necessary

Qualifications

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA)
  • or Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • or Associate Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA)
  • or Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
  • or partly qualified

Skills

  • International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • International Standards on Auditing (ISAs)
  • UAE local laws and regulations relevant to financial audits
  • Experience in handling group audits
  • Ability to manage, train and guide the team
