The role involves managing a portfolio of clients from planning through completion, maintaining audit quality and a strong risk focus, and building client relationships. You will also coach and develop junior team members while ensuring deliverables are completed on time and in line with professional standards and firm methodology.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise external audit engagements from planning through completion, ensuring delivery within budget and deadlines
  • Perform client and engagement risk assessments, identify key risk areas and design efficient audit responses
  • Coordinate fieldwork activities, including timelines, staffing and allocation of tasks across the engagement team
  • Obtain, analyse and validate financial and operational information and assess accounting treatments and disclosures
  • Evaluate internal controls and compliance requirements and communicate control deficiencies and recommendations to management
  • Review audit working papers and deliverables to ensure quality, completeness and compliance with firm methodology and ISAs
  • Draft and review audit deliverables including the auditor’s report, management letter and management representation letter
  • Act as the primary day-to-day point of contact for clients during engagements, managing information requests and status updates
  • Coach, mentor and develop associates through on-the-job training, feedback and performance support
  • For group audits, coordinate component auditor instructions, review component deliverables and support group reporting requirements
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of IFRS, auditing standards and relevant regulatory changes and apply updates to engagements
  • Uphold firm values, ethical standards and independence requirements in all client interactions and work performed

Qualifications

  • Professionally qualified: ACCA, CA, CPA or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
  • Six to eight years’ external audit experience, including supervising and reviewing team work
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS and International Standards on Auditing (ISA)

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting requirements
  • Strong understanding of International Standards on Auditing (ISA) and audit methodology
  • Working knowledge of UAE regulatory requirements relevant to external audits
  • Experience in group audits, including component coordination and reporting packages
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and supervise teams and review work for quality
