Rochelle Murugan Partner & Head of Audit

Rochelle Murugan is the Head of Audit for Forvis Mazars in South Africa and a member of the National Executive Committee, with over 16 years of experience in audit and assurance. In 2020 she was named as a SAICA Top 35 Under 35 finalist, recognised for her contribution to the profession, leadership impact, and commitment to excellence.

She specialises in JSE-listed entities and multinational groups, with deep expertise in complex group structures, technical accounting, and regulatory compliance. Rochelle partners closely with CEOs, CFOs, boards, and audit committees to deliver high-impact assurance solutions, combining strong technical depth with commercial insight and a pragmatic, client-centric approach.

As a SAICA and IRBA member, Rochelle operates at the forefront of audit, leading the national practice with a focus on audit quality, governance, regulatory readiness, and transformation. She plays a key role in shaping a modern audit function that is both inspection-ready and future-focused, responding to increasing regulatory scrutiny and evolving stakeholder expectations.

Beyond client delivery, Rochelle is deeply invested in building sustainable talent pipelines and developing the next generation of leaders. She has led national graduate recruitment and technical training initiatives and co-founded the National Women Empowerment Programme in South Africa, which continues to drive meaningful progress in advancing female leadership within the profession.

At a continental level, she serves as the Diversity & Inclusion Leader for Mazars in Africa, leading strategic initiatives that promote equity, representation, and inclusive leadership across the firm.
