“This year’s report shows that the number of private equity funds continues to grow steadily and that, despite a challenging year for capital raising, the majority of funds operating within the CEE region nevertheless successfully closed their fundraising rounds. The increase in secondary transactions—where one fund sells to another—is also becoming increasingly evident, confirming the maturity of the market. Private equity players today are also key participants in generational transition processes, particularly in mid-sized companies. Activity is most pronounced in the technology, healthcare, energy, and specialised manufacturing sectors, which remain attractive due to stable demand and strong value creation potential.”

The 2026 private equity market is shaped by tighter execution shifting financial conditions and a strong focus on technology and international growth. Firms are adapting strategies to prioritise operational influence and value creation while navigating evolving capital structures and timing pressures.
“The Forvis Mazars global private equity survey shows strong momentum in sectors where CEE already has rising traction, especially technology, energy and defence, highlighting the region’s growing strategic importance for investors. Across the CEE region, we’re also seeing a continued rise in the number of private equity funds, and despite a challenging fundraising environment, many have still succeeded in securing capital.”
