A fresh coat of care

Turning team bonding into purpose: Painting homes, touching hearts

In September, our Marketing & Communications, Corporate Sustainability and Business Development team came together to make a real impact, turning a simple team bonding activity into something far more meaningful.

Now in its second year, the team has intentionally combined team bonding with purpose, reflecting our Forvis Mazars for Good spirit of giving back to the community while strengthening our bonds as colleagues.

This year, the team participated in Paint of Love by Alive Community Network, a local non-profit organisation dedicated to uplifting lives through small but powerful home improvement efforts. Together, our colleagues brightened up a beneficiary’s home with a fresh coat of paint and donated a new chest of drawers, bringing both colour and comfort to their living space.

From painting the gates and walls to assembling a chest of drawers

Yet, what touched the team most was learning that what mattered most to the beneficiary wasn’t just the painted walls or new furniture, it was the time spent chatting and connecting. Those simple conversations brought warmth, companionship and joy, reminding us that kindness often shines brightest through presence and empathy.

“Acts of kindness don’t just change homes — they change hearts, including our own. This experience reminded us that when teamwork meets empathy, even small gestures can make a lasting difference.” – Marcus Cheow, Marcom & BD intern

Why it matters

What may seem like simple actions a few brushstrokes of paint, a shared conversation, a piece of furniture can transform not just a home, but lives and perspectives. The initiative reinforced that team bonding can go hand-in-hand with compassion and that our shared purpose can create ripples of positivity beyond the workplace.
