Experience

Althea is a Partner and the National Head of Tax at Forvis Mazars in South Africa. She is an Admitted Attorney with more than 20 years tax experience, a Chartered Tax Advisor with SAIT and serves as a Member of the National Executive Committee at Forvis Mazars in South Africa.

She joined Forvis Mazars as a Director in Tax Consulting in May 2020. She is currently the country leader for the tax service line at Forvis Mazars in South Africa.

Whilst she has a broad understanding of all the tax types, her areas of specialisation are concentrated in corporate and international tax, including mining tax, tax restructuring, merger and acquisitions and tax dispute resolution. She was previously employed by one of the big 4 accounting firms where she was involved with providing tax advisory services to clients across multiple sectors, tax and transfer pricing controversy matters.

Prior to joining consulting, she spent 14 years at the South African Revenue Service with a focus on corporate and international tax, tax policy, dispute resolution, and legal interpretation amongst others.
