Every day brings a new discovery for Emilie

When Emilie Bjerkan Hagenæs joined Forvis Mazars in August, she was welcomed into a work environment that blends professional development, a fast pace, and an inclusive community. In her first months, she has gained insight into the audit profession, gotten to know new colleagues, and experienced a start that has been safe, social, and full of new learning opportunities.

A fall filled with new routines, new colleagues, and new professional challenges awaited Emilie Bjerkan Hagenæs when she joined Forvis Mazars in August. She describes the onboarding period as both educational, social, and surprisingly eventful.

 – It’s been months of high pace and a lot to take in. The workdays fly by, and I learn something new every single day. It suits me perfectly—I like when things are happening! she says with a smile.

Wants to become a “numbers detective”

Emilie first came into contact with Forvis Mazars during the career fair at BI. That conversation left a lasting impression.

 – I got a really good impression of the company. Later, when I saw the job posting for graduates in audit, it felt completely right to apply. With a bachelor’s degree in business law and economics, as well as a master’s in finance, auditing is an area that combines everything I’m interested in. I wanted to become a ‘numbers detective’ and understand the stories behind the figures.

She experienced the interview process as both professional and inclusive.

 – I was really nervous, but the process was about getting to know each other—and it went both ways. I really appreciated that

A safe and well-organized onboarding

When Emilie started in mid-August, she was welcomed by an office that was prepared and ready to receive new employees.

 – The onboarding was very professional. Everything practical was in place, and we had great training days. I had both a personal manager and a mentor, which made the transition safe and well-structured.

The fact that this year’s company trip to Geilo took place so early also had a positive impact.

 – It almost felt like a kickoff for us new employees. We quickly became part of the environment, both professionally and socially.

More social than expected

When asked if anything had surprised her, Emilie highlighted the social environment.

 – It’s much more social than I had expected, both internally and with clients. We work closely as a team, and there are many people to get to know.

She describes her colleagues as highly skilled and inclusive.

 – The level of expertise at Forvis Mazars is very high. We have colleagues with specializations in many areas, in addition to the Legal department and Outsourcing. It allows me to learn from the best.

Varied tasks from day one

Emilie has already gained broad experience and significant responsibility.

 – On a daily basis, I work on audit planning, meet new clients, get familiar with their businesses, and identify risk areas. In interim work, I’ve, among other things, worked on testing revenues and expenses. Getting to try so many different things is one of the things I enjoy most.

So far, the workload has been manageable.

 – Apparently, autumn is the calmest period. We’ve had time to understand the tasks, not just complete them. I know that spring will be busier, so I’m trying to enjoy this period and be patient.

An environment that cares for its people

The culture at Forvis Mazars has made a strong impression on the new audit associate.

 – It’s very easy to strike up a conversation in the social area. Everyone can talk to everyone. The onboarding was excellent, and we’ve had many enjoyable activities: darts, mini golf, payday refreshments, and the trip to Geilo. Now I’m looking forward to the Christmas party!

Motivated for what’s ahead

Emilie is looking forward to new challenges and an increased pace throughout the winter and spring.

 – I’m excited to learn more and really get into the flow. Experiencing my first year-end closing feels like an exciting milestone.

Emilie is looking forward to continuing her journey at Forvis Mazars, with new professional challenges, exciting projects, and a supportive work environment. Her experience so far shows that a welcoming team and varied tasks foster both growth and enjoyment from day one.
