Could Singapore's recent $1 billion private credit growth fund spur more cross-border merger and acquisition (M&A) deals? With this capital injection, local companies may be more motivated to target regional and international acquisitions, ultimately driving expansion into new markets.
Aidan Khoo, Director, Management Consulting, shared that the fund could transform fast-growing tech startups, fintechs, and deep-tech firms where private credit offers an alternative to equity funding while preserving ownership.
"These businesses often face high capital needs but may be reluctant to dilute control through equity, making private credit an attractive option to fund expansion and innovation," he added.
He elaborated that companies seeking private credit from the initiative must be financially stable, have a scalable growth roadmap and strong governance frameworks that ensure transparency to demonstrate future potential — demarcating a clearer sign for lenders to commit capital.
