Forvis Mazars successfully hosts “Invest in Türkiye” Seminar in Shanghai

On September 12, 2025, as part of the Forvis Mazars Global China Services (GCS) annual meeting, the “Investing in Türkiye” seminar was successfully held in Shanghai. For over a decade, GCS has been committed to promoting cross-border collaboration and helping Chinese enterprises connect with global markets.

We were honored to welcome Ms. Kadriye Yaprak Taşar, Commercial Counsellor of the Consulate General of the Republic of Türkiye in Shanghai, Mr. Ahmet Serhat Turan, Country Advisor of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye Investment Office, and Mr. Feng Ji, Secretary General of Shanghai Pudong Service Center for Overseas Investment.

This seminar focused on Türkiye’s investment potential and tailored opportunities for Chinese companies, covering key topics such as tax policies, investment incentives, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, and import-export matters. The event attracted more than 30 representatives from Chinese enterprises across various industries.

The seminar opened with remarks from Dr. Julie Laulusa, Managing partner of Forvis Mazars in China. She expressed gratitude and a warm welcome to the Turkish Consulate General in Shanghai, the Turkish Investment Office, and attending Chinese enterprise representatives. Dr. Laulusa highlighted Türkiye as a market with significant potential and strategic importance, increasingly recognized by Chinese enterprises as a crucial step toward broader international markets. The seminar aimed to provide practical insights and professional guidance to help enterprises gain a comprehensive understanding of Türkiye’s policy environment and market opportunities.

Ahmet Serhat Turan, Country Advisor of the Turkish Investment Office, delivered a keynote presentation detailing Türkiye’s attractiveness to foreign investors, the latest investment policies, and priority sectors. He emphasized that Türkiye’s unique geographic location, broad market reach, and proactive government incentives make it a focal point for international investors.

Tufan Sevim, Tax Partner at Forvis Mazars in Türkiye, followed with an in-depth analysis of the legal and financial framework for foreign investors in Türkiye, covering company establishment, tax compliance, M&A transactions, and cross-border financing. The seminar also featured video presentations from multiple Forvis Mazars Türkiye partners, sharing firsthand experience to vividly illustrate Türkiye’s business and investment environment, providing highly practical guidance for Chinese enterprises.

Halil İbrahim Topal, Director of the Global China Services in Türkiye, also attended and engaged in direct dialogue with Chinese enterprise representatives, offering practical advice for specific investment scenarios.

The seminar was further enriched by Mr. Feng Ji, Secretary General of Shanghai Pudong Service Center for Overseas Investment, who shared insights on the policy environment and support platforms of Pudong Government for Chinese enterprises expanding overseas.

Ms. Kadriye Yaprak Taşar, Commercial Attaché of the Turkish Consulate General in Shanghai, also participated, adding authoritative international perspectives to the discussions.

The event was generously supported by Shanghai Pudong Service Center for Overseas Investment, Lujiazui International Accounting Center, and Shanghai Pudong Association of Enterprises With Foreign Investment. Through expert presentations and in-depth exchanges, the seminar not only enhanced Chinese enterprises’ understanding of the Turkish market but also laid a solid foundation for future investment collaboration.
