Tightening immigration regulations
The new Government Decree 450/2024 (23 December 2024) significantly affects the application for employment and guest worker residence permits based on nationality. In addition, the maximum number of such permits that can be issued in 2025 is set out in NGM Regulation 51/2024 (XII. 23.) decreased the previous year’s number from 65,000 to 35,000. Both regulations were adopted on 23 December and entered into force on 1 January 2025 with almost no preparation time.
