Ministry of Labour publishes methodology on equal pay

Slovakia is among the first EU countries to have transposed the pay transparency directive in full, including both the transparency and the reporting obligations. The law took effect on 7 June 2026 and, on 30 June, the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic published its methodology on equal pay for men and women for the same work or work of equal value.

Pay transparency: D-Day for Slovak firms is approaching

Companies will have to equalise the pay of men and women for the same work and report on this regularly to the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family. “If a company cannot demonstrate that pay differences are justified on the basis of objective and non-discriminatory criteria, it automatically loses in court and the employee is entitled to back pay as well as compensation for non-pecuniary harm,” warns Zuzana Motyčáková, an expert at Forvis Mazars. Yet this pay revolution finds many companies unprepared.
EcoVadis Silver Medal renewed: five points higher and still in the world's top 15%

The total value of transactions in Slovakia exceeded one billion euros in 2025

The value of mergers and acquisitions in the Central and Eastern European region reached more than 42.5 billion euros last year. This represents a year-on-year increase of 36% in total volume, although the overall number of transactions fell by 9% compared to the previous year. Results in Slovakia were significantly influenced by KBC Group's acquisition of a stake in 365.bank. These findings come from the latest study by Forvis Mazars and Mergermarket.
