Peter Cudlip Global Head of Public and Social Sector

Peter is the Global Head of the Public and Social sector for the firm. He is a partner within our global Risk consulting team and has been elected as Chair of our UK Governance Council, which is, in effect, the Board of the UK firm Forvis Mazars LLP.

Experience 

Peter specialises in internal control, risk, and governance with a particular focus on work that serves the public interest. He brings extensive board and executive level experience, advising organisations on complex governance and accountability challenges. 

Peter is known for his problem‑solving mindset and his ability to provide clear, pragmatic professional advice in complex environments. He is particularly experienced in supporting boards and senior leadership teams through periods of change, scrutiny, and reform.

Peter works across a broad range of sub‑sectors, including the private sector, central (federal) and local government, health, education, social housing, NGOs, donors, and charities. His work is characterised by a strong emphasis on practical, proportionate, and outcome‑focused solutions.

Work Highlights 

Peter has led a wide variety of specialist one-off reviews. His recent experience includes working with a large local authority where his team undertook an investigation on behalf of the Chief Executive. Peter is known as someone who can handle difficult and complex situations and very much enjoys responding promptly and professionally to a “challenging situation”.

In addition, Peter leads a team of specialists who provide grant funding assurance in respect of, for example, the European Union and the US Federal Government. This involves assisting clients with complex funding rules and relevant financial standards.
