Liam is a Senior Manager in the London Private Client Tax team. He joined the firm in 2015 and focuses on providing tax advice to shareholders on the sale of their businesses.

Experience

Liam is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser who primarily supports business owners who are preparing for a tax-efficient sale or succession of their businesses, as well as advising on a wide range of tax matters, including general IHT planning, residence and domicile issues and profit extraction.

Work Highlights

Recent transactions he has provided tax advice on include:

  • A partial sale to an EBT, in which the shareholders de-risked and took cash off the table, whilst incentivising the next management team through share options.
  • A sale to private equity in which an efficient extraction of cash was realised via the sale of the trading subsidiary, and ultimate liquidation of the holding company.
  • A joint venture separation deal in which shareholders took cash off the table via a restructure and capital reduction.
