Running from 15–30 August 2026, the Edinburgh International Book Festival brings together writers, thinkers, artists and audiences from around the world for a wide-ranging programme of events designed to ignite imaginations, foster connection and challenge perspectives. This year’s Festival will feature almost 700 events, with 682 writers from 35 countries across six continents.
This year, Forvis Mazars is proud to sponsor Simon Kuper: World Cup Fever, a timely and thought-provoking event exploring the global significance of football’s biggest tournament.
High-profile sports journalist Simon Kuper, who has attended every World Cup since 1990, will discuss themes from his new book, World Cup Fever: A Soccer Journey in Nine Tournaments.
Drawing on decades of first-hand experience, Kuper will examine the World Cup’s impact far beyond the pitch, across emotion, controversy, politics, culture and football history.
With the World Cup capturing global attention this summer, the event offers a compelling opportunity to reflect on sport as a powerful lens for understanding identity, influence, resilience and connection.
