Craig works with Owners, MDs and CFOs, learning all about their stories to fully understand their business challenges, objectives and potential needs. Through this, he can identify business solutions that can achieve clients' objectives with specialist skills utilised by colleagues in the UK and overseas.

Experience 

Having been an audit and accounts partner for many years, and the regulatory need to choose a path, led Craig to be part of our Accounts and Outsourcing team. Looking after teams, both nationally and locally in the North of England, that look after clients' compliance requirements and provide advisory support to a wide range of clients.

The audit background continues to provide an understanding of the regulatory challenges faced by FDs, at the same time as understanding the commercial rationale to advise upon decisions that clients are making.

Work Highlights

• Early career highlights included the design and installation of the accounting system for a National Trade Union, in the early days of technological advances in the accounting profession. The technology has come a long way since then. Moving on in Craig's career, managing an effective team and getting the best from people, internally and with clients, certainly aided his career development.
• Going back to University and getting a Post-graduate Certificate in Family Business Advice was a big challenge, but it certainly opened up Craig's eyes to the dynamics within family businesses. It also gave him a better insight into decision-making in wider businesses, particularly working with Privately Owned Businesses.
• The advice provided for owners, or professional businesses, in the succession of their business and legacy is always rewarding for Craig. Dealing sensitively with sudden changes, illness and more can make it challenging and sometimes involvement in mediation is necessary, but Craig finds that getting a client to a place where they can reach their objective is satisfying.
