James Isherwood Partner - Head of Insurance Consulting

James leads our Insurance Consulting practice, he is based in London and has over 20 years international experience in insurance consulting.

Experience 

James has an actuarial background, in recent years he has had a strong focus on strategic optimisation of insurance companies through changes to target operating models, data platforms and governance. He also has a strong history in capital performance, IFRS 17 implementation and process improvement in finance / actuarial functions. 

He has also been involved in large scale global assessment and change programmes at group functions and local business units.

Work Highlights 

• Assessed and redesigned the finance & capital management functions of a European multinational; engaged to implement the proposed changes to operating model – optimise organisational design, define recruitment needs, specify activity allocation within function and between adjacent functions, process integration, and determine target data architecture.
• Review of product and asset portfolio of European multinational; assess strategic actions to improve risk-adjusted returns including portfolio disposal.
• Led the review and re-design of the global Economic Capital framework for a US group. The review concluded on the suitability of capital quantification for reliance by the Board and senior management to inform strategic decision-making.
• Responsible for designing and executing the implementation of digital strategy for one of the UK’s largest insurers. This program
  • Defined digitisation initiatives to increase level of end-to-end customer journeys.
  • Set strategy to increase digital adoption among customers.
  • Increased productivity among staff through upskilling, automation and process improvement.
  • Defined operating model change programmes to delayer, outsource and right size teams.
